About AM Ceramics

Made by Hand. Made with Love.

Hello everyone I'm Amy — the maker behind AM Ceramics.

Every piece you find in this shop was shaped by my hands one at a time. Just raw clay and a whole lot of love for the craft.

How It All Started

I discovered ceramics in January of 2025 at a beginner's wheel-throwing class that I signed up for on a whim. I took this beginners class a couple of sessions because I was having a hard time with the wheel. At one of those classes I noticed a hand building class that was being taught.  I thought to my self I should definitely take a go at it.  After completing that hand building class I was completely hooked. There's something almost meditative about working with clay: the way it responds to your touch, the way no two pieces ever turn out exactly alike and the anticipation of the final product. It's been a creative high ever since.

What started as a weekend hobby slowly took over my kitchen table, then my spare room, and eventually became AM Ceramics — a small studio where I get to make beautiful, functional objects every single day.

The Process

The whole process from raw clay to finished piece takes about two weeks. Slow, intentional, and worth every moment. The greatest feeling about making ceramics is that it is a constant journey of learning and trying new creative ways.

The Materials

I work primarily with mid-fire stoneware, known for its durability and beautiful, earthy texture. I love to use a variety of different glazes on my work. In fact, the results after the glaze firing are my favorite part. The excitement of what I am about to see is like being a kid opening up a present. It's the best!

What Makes AM Ceramics Different

Handmade means every piece has its own personality. A slight variation in glaze, a curve in the rim, — these aren't imperfections, they're proof that a real person made this just for you. When you buy AM Ceramics piece you're getting something truly one of a kind made with two hands and not a machine. I truly put care into every single piece I make and love my pieces to be part of your everyday life.
